If you want to view a quick summary of your database when
you close Specify you can enable the Database
Statistics Page. This page contains information including the number of
specimens cataloged, number of countries represented, number of taxa represented, loans, type specimens, and how many specimens
were cataloged in given periods of time.
To do this in Specify 4.6:
With Specify open, open the file menu and select preferences.
Select the behavior tab.
Check the box next to "Show database statistics when Specify closes for x
seconds".
Fill in the field for the number of seconds to display the statistics.
Click Save
