Alt-S, Form sets, and Carry Forward

Here are a couple of things that maybe someone else has noticed too.
1) Error when using use Alt-S to save a collection object record -- Read of address 00000310" so we must click the "save" button to save an object record. We can use Alt-S to save records in any of the embedded forms (like determinations). This seems to relate to the fact that the File-Save dropdown menu isn't available at the top of the screen when entering data. The collection object (or any other) data entry form in v. 4.6 used to come up in a separate window which had a different menu set.
2) under user preference is not remembered and must be selected each time before starting a session. Since I have a simple form for daily data entry, we'd like to have this fixed to save to the last setting in the next version. Does this seem right? Maybe form sets could be a quick menu item?
3) carry forward and default under view menu should go back to 'clear' when you exit and reopen the program. I wonder whether other users would rather keep it the way it is (settings saved)?

I have also noticed the Alt key shortcuts don't work consistently.
From the point you enter a new record both Alt-E (edit) and Alt-D (delete) do work, just not Alt-N (new). Those commands are not available on the drop down menu either but they still work.
I too can use Alt-S (save) on all subforms within the record such as collector and locality but not to final save the record.
For me, the Alt keys are instinct in data entry and I would love to have them back.
In regards to setting the view back to clear each time - I would prefer the setting saved each time as would my other data entry folks.
Thanks guys!

The alt-s and alt-n hotkeys will be fixed for the next release (Specify 5.1 in a few weeks). I tested both of these today and they were working properly. As far as form set and carry forward preferences, I am not sure what will be done. I will push for this to be added to the user preferences for Specify 5.2.
